[CONCEPT] Digital SeaEverything you need to know about the Digital Sea.

[The Digital Sea] (#digitalSea

) ## {: #digitalSea_technical}

Technical Characteristics Representing the global computer network, the Digital Sea existed before the creation of [Lyoko] (74 #virtualWorld_lyoko) and will continue to exist after its destruction. It is a place completely independent of the Supercomputer generated by the connection between all the world's information networks. The only parameter you can configure in connection with the Digital Sea is the height of the Digital Sea* (between 300 and 600 meters) ** on a [Lyoko sector] (73 #sector_lyoko).

{: #digitalSea_technical} Destruction

It is impossible to destroy the Digital Sea in any way. On a virtual world, the one and only case where it disappears permanently is when that world is completely destroyed.

{: #digitalSea_distribution} Distribution

The Digital Sea is a unique and infinite virtual space that includes:

  • 6 virtual worlds including [Lyoko] (74 #virtualWorld_lyoko) which is always in the center of the map, and [5 Replikas] (74 #virtualWorld_replika) placed randomly in the Digital Ocean.
  • 280 digital hubs which can all be used as teleporters by the Skidbladnir to move from one end of the Digital Sea to the other.

{: #digitalSea_program} Digital Sea Programs

##### {: #digitalSea_map} The Digital Sea Map
Essential for any Digital Ocean expedition you will undertake, the 'Digital Sea Map' will list every hub or virtual world detected by [Skidbladnir] sonar (=76) by recording their contact details* (x; y) * and assigning them a unique identifier. This program will also allow you to configure any hub to teleport Skidbladnir to a virtual object in particular* (via its identifier) * or to precise coordinates.

{: #digitalSea_hyperscan} The Hyperscan The

Hyperscan makes it possible to detect, on a global scale, a Supercomputer infected by X.A.N.A. Once an infected machine is detected, you can transfer the coordinates of the [Replika] (74 #virtualWorld_replika) generated by the Supercomputer to the 'Digital Sea Map' in order to write the virtual world on the map of the Digital Ocean.

##### {: #digitalSea_hub} Digital hubs
The Digital Sea has 280 hubs for transferring global computer network data from one end of the Digital Sea to the other. A hub can be configured using the [Smap] if the Skidbladnir is nearby in order to draw a virtual route to any coordinates of the Digital Sea. If the submarine takes the road, it will then exit via the hub closest to the configured coordinates. Represented by a 3D wire model in the 'Virtual Map', the hubs are all in [color] {orange}. [color|orange} color orange [color] by default. However, a hub will turn white when activated to transfer the virtual submarine.

{: #digitalSea_hub} Databases

Databases represent all the data stored in the global computer network. Constituting the very body of the Digital Sea, the allegory of 'Overturned City' or 'City under the Sea' often used to talk about the Digital Ocean comes from the very particular form that these databases give it. These digital stalactites are represented in green on the 'Virtual Map' as well as on the 'Digital Sea Map'.

{: #digitalSea_hub} Virtual worlds:smap-plika-close: From

the Digital Sea, virtual worlds take the form of an immense sphere within which the entire virtual world is contained. To the south of this sphere, there is an access lock that allows the virtual world to be connected to the network by filtering incoming data via the [Digital Sea] (76 #skidbladnir_program). It is by unlocking this lock with his digital key that the Skidbladnir can enter and leave a virtual world. Just like hubs or towers, virtual worlds are represented by a 3D wire model from the 'Virtual Map'.

{: #digitalSea_other} Dangers & Exploration

##### {: #digitalSea_danger} Dangerousness of the Digital Sea
The Digital Sea is by far the most dangerous element in virtual worlds. Indeed, any non-xanatified lyoko warrior coming into contact with her will be instantly devirtualized forever and therefore [lost] (77 #lw_lost) for the rest of your game. Always be very careful to never target a Lyoko Warrior in the Digital Sea for virtualization * (especially with deferred virtualization where the transfer is automatically carried out to the location of the last virtualized character) *, in which case the character (s) will be immediately lost. Similarly, any character [temporarily xanatified] (77 #lw_xanatification) will become [definitively] (77 #lw_xanatification) if they fall into the Digital Sea.

Finally, note that if a character falls into the Digital Sea, audio and visual feedback will indicate it on the 'Virtual Map'. You then have two options, either you can materialize an overvehicle at the character's location to stop his fall, or you can devirtualize to prevent him from falling to his death.

If he is alive, Franz Hopper will come and save his daughter if she falls into the Digital Sea. However, the creator of Lyoko will be vulnerable to any attack by monster or [xanatified lyoko warrior] (77 #lw_xanatification).

{: #digitalSea_exploration} Exploring the Digital Sea

Despite its mortal nature, it is possible for Lyoko Warriors to explore the Digital Sea using the Skidbladnir. Once out of Lyoko, you will be able to navigate freely in the Digital Sea. To help you best guide Skidbladnir through this endless ocean of data, open the 'Digital Sea Map' on the interface with the smap command. Also, use the hubs to connect two remote points in the Digital Sea in a flash. Consult the tutorial 'Navigating to a virtual world' to learn more about navigating the Digital Sea.
